In a few days we’ll mark our first month anniversary as owners of the Maple Dell property. We’d planned to spend just a couple some weeks cleaning and painting before moving in to our house. However, the house needed a lot of cleaning, more than just touchup painting, some carpets and builtins needed replacing, and winter has been fairly harsh this year, all of which is to say we’ll not be ready to move in until near the end of March.
Cold and snow on the ground can’t keep us from thinking about our plans for the Farm. While we are a still long way off from transforming much of this sculpted property into a sustainable working farm that exists in harmony and relationship with it’s surroundings, we’re still a bit in awe of it. It’s hard not to be bit overwhelmed by the many trees, natural springs and waterways, hills, flatland and ponds, in addition to the geese, birds, squirrels, fox and deer that we’ve seen or seen evidence of. It will be a challenge, but we’re looking forward to it, and seeing progress on several large gardens, chicken habitat and the mushroom cultivation area this year, while making improvements and keeping up the existing meadows, lawns, bushes, woods, houses and buildings.
I’m hoping to share our regular progess here.
Steve for all
